ROD HOTTEST ON THE ROAD

Rod Stewart’s current from Maggie May to The Great American Songbook arena tour of North America is grossing almost $1 million a night.
It makes him the second highest earning entertainer touring the states. The tour is so popular that Stewart last month added another nine concerts, extending the run to August, Bette Midler, who is grossing about £1.1 million a night, is top box-office draw of the moment.
The latest figures were provided by promoters and venue managers to US music magazine Polistar, Rod’s career revival has been attributed to the success of his two American Songbook albums of classic pop and jazz standards.
Other acts he beat on the road include David Bowie, Kid Rock and Enrique Iglesias.
