Rod and John Waite have a few friends in common,Carmine Rojas, who played with Rod for over 20 years also played with John way back in the 80’s and was part of John’s No Brakes Band.
Also Don Kirkpatrick Rod’s guitarist worked with John after Rod fired him, but Rod then hired him back. Don also toured with John too. The same goes for Rod’s band member Chuck Kentis who wrote a brilliant songs with John and also toured with him a few year back.
John exclusively told SMILER he liked Rod’s version of ‘Missing You’ saying,
Rod is an original and someone who I always regarded as a true great
He’s responsible for some music that’s above and beyond
compare. And he’s been at the top of his game his whole career. For me to hear him sing one of my songs just knocked me out. As any really great singer does, he made it his own. It’s as if he wrote it for himself. I’m really a little speechless….well, not really. So, I’ll
finish by saying… Of all the people that covered Missing You, this is the one. God bless him.!!!!!.
SMILER members may also like to know that John has an album coming out in the States in January “Downtown Journey Of A Heart”. You can take a peek at
