ROD becomes a CBE for services to the music industry.
Rod, has had 62 hit singles, including six number ones, and has sold more than 200million records.
Rod recieved the news of his CBE at the home he shares with girlfriend Penny Lancaster in Palm Springs.
Rod said: “It’s a great honour and I’m overjoyed. We’ll be celebrating the good news later today.
“Although I’m living in California, I’m very proud to be British.”
