Rod’s brother has heart scare in Scotland

Robert Stewart in hospital

The SMILER team would like to pass on our best wishes to Rod’s brother Bob after we have just heard he is in a Glasgow hospital after suffering a heart attack, just hours after Rod performed in the city.

Robert Stewart, known as Bob, was admitted to the Western Infirmary yesterday, where he is “stable” and is expected to remain until the weekend.

Scots-born Bob is in his late 70s and lives in Glasgow.

A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said yesterday: “We can confirm that the brother of Rod Stewart has been admitted to the Western Infirmary, where he is in a stable condition.”

His brother’s illness came just hours after Rod performed the last of three sold-out gigs at the city’s SECC.

Rod, the youngest of the five Stewart children, lost his elder sister Peggy to multiple sclerosis in 1975, when she was aged 40. He has another brother, Don, and sister, Mary.
