Rod’s 50th show in Vegas

Cara Trombino has a ball reviewing the show and the following night in Vegas

August 3rd

I originally planned on only going to the August 4th show but it turns out I got to go last minute! WHAT A SURPRISE!
Lots of Rod fans were there Manny, Jean, Pat Rivera and her husband,Ruth, Mike Gregor, Susana, Vicky, Connie, Teresa, Genny Moss and her Best friend Sara, Jill and her husband and Kathie Thompson and Barbara Keifer with her husband. I sat in section 2 row FF on the side next to the stage. The show started at 7:30pm promptly. Runrig’s Lochlomond started Then the curtain goes up and out comes the back up girls Di, Kimberly and Lucy. Next out comes Rod and everyone is on their feet! He opens with This Old Heart followed by Having a Party then Tonightā€™s The Night. Rod then says that that night was his 50th show in Vegas! Rhythm of My Heart was next. I held up my Scotland towel and he smiled at me! Some Guys Have All the Luck was
next. Next Rod mentions the next two songs he did with Ronnie Wood and Faces. He was talking about Every Picture Tells A Story and thatā€™s the next song he sang. I was so happy I got to see Rod sing this live. I only got to see him sing it on his Rocking In the Round tour in 2007 and
now I got to see him sing it again. Next Rod sang Iā€™d Rather Go Blind. I was so happy I was going to get to see Rod sing this! It blew me away.

Rod then tells the audience to watch the screen and he shows us the Pepsi commercial with Sofia Vegara and a girl is singing off camera What Ever Lola Wants (which as we all know is Ruby singing) Ruby then comes out and sings Chain of Fools. I thought she did a great job! Rod said he
was so proud of Ruby. Next was Forever Young including the new drum solos along with the girls in their leopard outfits. I LUV their Leopard dresses!

Next Rod comes out wearing a green suit with yellow socks. He made a joke that he was color blind and he couldnā€™t make out if the socks were green or yellow. The roadies came out with white chairs for the orchestra for the acoustic set. The songs in this set were First Cut, Have I Told You Lately and I Donā€™t Want to Talk about It. Before Rod sang this he asked the audience if there were any English people in the crowd. A lot of people clapped or shouted and he goes ā€œThis is for you! British and Americans! Best alies in the world! I was so happy to hear him sing this! He rarely sings this in the USA! Only time I got to see him sing this was during the Rockin in the Round tour in 2007. Next
was Canā€™t Stop me Now He said this is dedicated to my Dad for getting my career started and when I started out I would get rejected a bit he said ‘keep going keep going’.

Next up was Soul Girl with the back up singers then Sweet Little Rock N Roller. Rod went off the right of the stage
down the aisle to the left of the stage. Next was Youā€™re In My Heart! I held up my Celtic flag for this! He saw me and smiled. Just then Vicky throws Rod another green and white hat that she knitted and Rod motions for her to come up! (WTG Vicky) Just then a lot of other fans in Celtic jerseys came up! Myself included! But sadly stupid security kicked
everyone off! (Spoiled sports!),

Next was Hot Legs followed by Maggie May and DYTIS. During DYTIS Genny Moss is on stage dancing and singing some of the song! Wow! I didnā€™t realize that he called her up because she had a tattoo on her leg of him! I kind of had a tough time seeing because there were a lot of people in front of me and it was tough for me to get to the front. Sadly I didnā€™t get a ball or a lot of interaction with Rod
like Iā€™ve had at his past shows but hope I get lucky on the 4th!

August 4th

Tonight I had great seats! Section 5 Row DD aisle Seats! Tonightā€™s set list was the same as the 3rd. It felt more special being that it was the last show for the summer set. I was very happy that no one was rude to us like in 2011 when mom and I stood up. There was a very nice couple from Mexico behind us. We even had a nice guard in our section.
Rod was in a very good mood too! When he sang Having a Party he winked at me!

During Rhythm of My Heart when Kimberly is doing her solo Rod took a feather duster and tickled her and startled her! It was very funny! Next were Some Guys then EPTAS and Id Rather Go Blind! Next he introduced Ruby. Ruby said she gets emotional when he sings Id rather Go Blind. Then she sang Chain of Fools. Next was Forever Young and the Drum solo.

Next were the acoustic sets. Same songs as the 3rd. When Rod sat down someone goes ā€œCongrats!ā€ Heā€™s like ā€œwhat?ā€ I didnā€™t have a baby. No more kids I put my cue back in the rack!ā€ Next was Cant Stop Me Now. Terrie Ortega from Texas got called up. She made a tartan banner that said
Tartan Pride on it. A guard wanted her off and I think she almost got kicked out but Rod saved her. As he mentioned. Then the girls sang Soul Girl. Next was SLRNR and when Rod came through the crowd in the back some guy wearing a Celtic shirt with Jimmy Johnstoneā€™s name on it starts
singing and Rod had a shocked look on his face! LOL it was very funny cause Rodā€™s like ā€œThis is my show!ā€

Next was Youā€™re In My Heart I was hoping that fans would have gotten called on stage but it didnā€™t happen.
Someone gave him a green boa to wear during the song. After the song ended some woman comes on stage and Rod is like ā€œwhatā€™s happening? Iā€™m married.ā€ I donā€™t know what she gave him!

Next were Hot Legs & Rod shows us funny videos he found on the internet. One was a dog humping someoneā€™s leg. Then two boys who pull a table cloth off the table and a book case falls! And then a woman doing traffic report and she draws a penis by mistake! Then Rod shows a picture of him in high heels! Then out come the balls! I kept yelling ā€œRod! Rod!ā€ He sees me and tosses me one but it goes over my head and my mom catches it!

Next comes Maggie May and DYTIS. When DYTIS started balloons came down. Same thing on the 3rd. Everyone including Ruby is on stage for this. Iā€™m always sad at the
end when itā€™s over. At least Iā€™ll be seeing him in December.

In closing thanks To Mike Gregor & Vic vaga for organizing the party on August 2nd and for Vic Vaga for being the entertainer. Congrats to Vicky, Terrie and Genny Moss for being on stage. Hope to do it all again in Vegas next year! For now I have December 9th to look forward to!
