Anyone visiting Penge high street in south-east London, might have seen this amazing window display featuring Rod, Elton John and David Bowie under the heading Penge Rocks
Designer Drapes has been trading in Penge since 1987..So after one of our members told us they had seen the best window display ever we decided to find out what was the connection with drapes and Rock and Roll and find out the story..
Company founder Ian Barrington told SMILER today ‘There wasn’t really a story. Our upholsterer Derek Huck made the Rod Stewart model and we decided to use it in our window display under Penge Rocks. He added the Elton John (to coincide with the opening of Rocket man) and Bowie as he was a local.It has had a fantastic response – everyday people come to take pictures’.
We think Derek did a fantastic job on Rod ..Best we have seen since the Nod’s As Good As A Wink puppets!!
