Rod has been thinking of us all back home in the UK this week while on safari in Tanzania’s Serngenti, phoning home twice in one week.
Rod phoned the Ken Bruce show on Radio 2 to tell us about his forthcoming album ‘You’re In My Heart’ with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
“It wasn’t my idea, it was the record company’s idea,” he said of the orchestral album. “I was sort of dead against it, I couldn’t imagine Stay With Me but with strings, but it actually worked. “It emphasises the tender points of the ballads. I don’t know any other way to put it but it works,” he adde
We also got to hear the first playing of the fantastic new version of ‘It Takes Two’ recorded with Robbie Williams and Rod revealed that fans in London are in for an extra treat “We’re gonna have the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra three nights at the O2 in the build up to Christmas, It’s going to be very jolly”.
Rod also phoned David McCarthy at the Daily Record phone in hotline after great European results for Celtic and Rangers telling him “Forget the great divide for just a moment. This was a wonderful night for Scottish football. Well done the Gers and well done the Celts .”
