Rod phoned his old mate Jim White this week on talkSPORT to give his views on Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon being refused entry to Ibrox Park to cover Rangers Europa League on Thursday night. Rangers are said to have claimed security reasons for the decision and say they fulfilled the contract with BT Sport. Chris Sutton blasted the decision on social media but Rod told Jim ‘Guys, I think this is the correct decision by Rangers. I wish I could go to Ibrox but I wouldn’t be particularly welcome.’ “So yes, why inflame the situation.”

Finally got to meet Rod In 1986 when I joined @fcbarcelona I went with Mark Hughes to watch @sirrodstewart in a concert at Camp Nou. Afterwards Mark and I went to a restaurant. Rod was in the far corner, but both of us were too shy to go say hello. Finally put that right last night and met the great man. #whocareswins
Old Faces

Ronnie Wood told Rolling Stone that most of the new Faces songs he’s been working on with Rod Stewart and Kenney Jones. originated from the band’s original time together. he said they collaborated at the same time the Rolling Stones were preparing an extended rerelease of 1981’s Tattoo You, so he found himself updating material from two separate but very interesting vaults. “I’ve just had the best seat in the house,”
“We’ve been doing old Stones songs from way back when that were never released … and I went straight from … that to working with Rod on Faces songs that were never released from exactly the same time, the late ’60s, early ‘70s. And from both bands, we managed to find some gems that are just timeless.”
Marc Jordan

As news of Rod’s new album ‘The Tears Of Hercules ‘ made headlines this week it seems a good time to remind everyone if you have not already checked it out, read Marc’s thoughts on Rod recording his song for the title track from SMILER back in July https://www.rodstewartfanclub.com/news/the-marc-jordan-songbook/
Born To Boogie

Rod has penned a tribute to Marc Bolan on his new album and he told Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 show that he had always idolised Marc and thought the time was right to show his love. Talking about the news that Rod had wrote the track Danielz from T.Rextasy (The world’s only official tribute band to Marc Bolan and T.Rex) told SMILER
“I’ve been a big Rod fan since the 1970s, not to mention a fan of Faces too. I used to see him every now and then when we lived in Epping a few years back My wife Caron used to subscribe to ‘Smiler’ when John Gray ran it many years ago. We have a signed copy from Rod from the 1990s.
I know that Rod and Marc Bolan were friends and hung out together at times, with Marc visiting Rod’s house and appearing at certain bashes together. It’s absolutely brilliant that Rod has now written and recorded his own personal tribute to Marc. Rod has always had a great way with lyrics and has always been an exceptional songwriter, and of course yes, Marc was born to boogie. Long may ‘Smiler’ live on….”
