Let this train keep on riding, riding on through..
The model railway club which was backed by Rod after suffering from vandalism in 2019 has announced they are holding a comeback exhibition.
Rod was given honorary membership of the Market Deeping Model Railway Club club after giving £10,000 towards rebuilding costs after its exhibition hall was broken into by teenagers.
Railway club chairman Peter Davies told SMILER this week “Market Deeping Model Railway Club (now a registered charitable organisation) is delighted to announce that its annual exhibition will take place 14-15 May 2022 at Stamford Welland Academy, Stamford Lincolnshire. With great car park but and train access, it will be the largest exhibition the club has ever mounted with over 20 layouts and traders selling wares for all aspects of our amazing hobby. As fan club members will know, Rod is a very keen railway modeller. So keen, in fact, that he very generously donated Ā£10000 to aid our recovery after the disastrous vandalism which destroyed our 2019 exhibition.
Fans will also know that we made him an honorary member of the club. We were delighted to present him with a polo shirt and certificate of membership during a BBC One Show programme a little while ago. It was a very special evening for us and canāt thank Rod enough for his generosity.
Life hasnāt stood still for us though. Shortly after the vandalism took place, our landlord of 16 years asked us to vacate the premises we had occupied. It came as a bit of a shock and finding somewhere new has taken some time. Weāre delighted to say that we shall shortly be signing a lease on new premises which we hope that Rod will be able to visit when heās next in the UK. The premises will provide many facilities that we previously didnāt have, allow us to expand what we do, encourage younger modellers, have workshops to share and develop skills and have open sessions. It will also enable us to display some of the wide range of the heritage stock we were generously donated after our disaster.
Without Rodās fantastic support and that of many others, none of this would be possible.”

The main sponsor will be Ford dealer TC Harrison and Peter presented the Stamford branch manager Mark Henson, with an amazing scale model of their showroom. built by David Hildred, one of the clubās most skilled model makers
On meeting Rod on the One Show Peter told SMILER “It was a truly great evening. Rod (and Penny) were both incredibly kind and generous”.

Menopause Journey
I was thinking of the best way to post about Penny’s emotional comments on Loose Women this week when I came across a great post by Pro Age Makeup Artist and Author Jo Jewett who very kindly said I could use her words that included a great Faces story as well..MW
Did you see Penny yesterday on our GB chat show Loose Women? Talking about her menopause journey, so honest and open I just have to give her a round of applause!
So often we think celebrities have this perfect life, so when she broke down in tears talking about how wretched she feels, the anxiety and challenges of feeling powerless describing her fears of ageing – not from an aesthetic way but questioning her life and future.
I have had all those feelings. When my kids became adults, moving on with their lives without me, or thatās how I felt. When Shannon left home I cried for a week!!
I still canāt watch her drive out of the village.
So, if you are feeling this way, you are not alone. We all go through so many emotions and our hormones once again become our enemy – Mother Nature can be a bitch at times. So, thank you Penny. For keeping it real.

Not many people know but when I was 16 I rang Rod while on tour in Newcastle- I pretended to be Dee Harrington (Rods girlfriend at the time) 1975! He answered the phone!! Big shock – and invited us over to The Gosforth Park hotel for front seats at the bar! He must have fell about when my mates and I rocked up!
The Faces and us, we were in awe – we were interviewed by Sounds Magazine and I sat there chatting to Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood, Rod sat next to me with his checked suit looking cool ..
Then we were bundled off in a taxi by some PR woman as they realised our age!
I thought he might fall madly in love with me and wait for me to grow up š„“
How hilarious is that!
However of all the ladies in his life he struck gold with you Penny ā„ļø

So, maybe that encounter made me aware that celebrities are just people and prepared me for the ones I was to meet and my ability to see past the facade. Tales to tell ..
We are all just humans, trying our rotten best to live our best life šŖš¼š.
After 4 in 10 of their viewers didn’t feel adequately supported during the menopause, the #LooseWomen decided to take matters into their own hands! making a pledge that will see them committing to continue breaking down the taboo and pushing for real change for their viewers for more information go to https://www.facebook.com/loosewomen/photos/a.166231134878/10160467707259879/
