On Easter Saturday The New Zealand leg of the tour arrived at Mission Estate Winery, Napier, New Zealand but fans waited fingers-crossed for news as to whether the 30th anniversary Mission Estate Concert would go ahead. and early news was that the show was being brought forward by more than half an hour in an attempt to avoid the last encore being drowned in rain. Rod was to have started about 8pm, but Mission Estate Winery chief executive Peter Holley said that after a Friday meeting with long-time Mission Concert promoter Gary Craft and using information from specialist forecasters it had been decided Sir Rod will now take the stage just after 7pm.

Earlier on the rain did hold off and Marilyn Kennedy was again at the concert and said it was a really great show and explained “The people in the North island had suffered badly over the last three years after a more stringent lockdown than the south, everything was starting to feel normal again when in February they were hit by a tornado which has caused total devastation, you can still see a lot of the damage that was done, after the earlier news that the concert may not go ahead it did and it was incredible, I dont think anyone sat in their seat all evening , it was mass singing and dancing, Rod was the first concert at the Mission Estate Winery since before lockdown so it was a really good party”

Tell Everyone [Even Rod] The Faces Book

Richard and Mary

Last weekend author of the new Faces book Tell Everyone Richard Houghton attended a Rod Stewart fan convention to do a book signing and said “I was lucky enough to meet Rod’s lovely sister Mary, who is a very sprightly 92 years old. She insisted on paying for a copy of my Faces book in order to give it to Rod, even though I would happily have gifted her a copy”.

The Tar-minator

Arnold Schwarzenegger took a leaf out of Rod’s book this week and decided to fill in a local ‘giant’ pothole, Arnie said he was exercising his civic duty and took it upon himself to fill in the pothole in his neighbourhood. Now, city officials have said it wasn’t a pothole at all!

On 11 April, the former California governor shared a video of himself filling in what he described as a “giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks” outside his Brentwood home. “I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go,” he tweeted.

Unfortunatly a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Department of Public Works has said that the supposed pothole was actually an essential service trench being used by the utility company, Southern California Gas Company, in the Brentwood area.

“This location is not a pothole,” the department told NBC News “It’s a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May.”

And Finally..

Next stop Mexico’s Palacio de los Deportes on April 28th ..Any one going?
