1 Billion Hits on You Tube

Rod had a good start to the week with the news that one of his videos had hit 1 billion views and surprisingly it wasn’t one that might come to mind first

You Tube

The one that rang the billion-view bell for Rod is a live performance of ‘I Don’t Want to Talk About It,’ from 2004 with the video taken from Rod’s concert video ‘One Night Only! Live At Royal Albert Hall’ and is sung as a duet with Scottish singer Amy Belle.

Rancho Mirage, Agua Caliente Casino

Photo Donna Stackhouse

On Saturday Rod played Rancho Mirage, Agua Caliente Casino, Donna Stackhouse was there to get some great shots and Robert LaDuke gave us his thoughts

While his voice was a little weak (he cancelled 2 shows last week due to testing positive for COVID) 79 year young Rod Stewart danced, sang, smiled and was obviously having a great time as he put on another fantastic non-stop, 2-hour show, with several costume changes. His band of amazing musicians (especially one super talented violinist, wink, wink) performed some of his biggest hits, some covers, and a tribute to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Dressed in blue and yellow he sang in front of a slide show of photos of the senseless destruction President Putin has caused. I’ve never seen Rod make a political statement before, so this was a bit moving for us in the audience. Thank you Rod. This was our 2nd time seeing him, but won’t be our last. This was also our first time at the venue at Agua Caliente Casino and Resort in Rancho Mirage. I think it’s a great venue. We had 6th row center orchestra seats, so of course we had a great time,

Record Breaker

Talking about Rod’s health on Loose Women on Thursday Penny told the team

“He’s [Rod] decided to set a world record for the fastest sprint for a 79-year-old so it’s like, god knows where that came from,” she explained.

“He’s arranging a soft track at home to practice on. He just never sees – the sky’s the limit for him, it’s like breaking that glass ceiling for him and we always encourage the boys to aim high. “If they look to their father who’s still working and touring the world… it’s like never give up.

“His motto is, ‘Keep your legs strong and they’ll carry you through life’. It’s all about fitness and health and longevity.”

ITV Screen Grab

Fellow panalist Frankie Bridge later had a bit of a slip-up making an unintentional cheeky comment about Rod that left everyone in stitches. The Saturdays star confessed she was having some trouble with her knees, just as Penny was discussing how Rod was focusing on his fitness and health. When asked about her own exercise regime, Frankie joked that she “wished she had more of Rod in me”, causing the audience and panel to burst into laughter.

Despite her attempts to steer the conversation back on track, Lead panalist Kaye suggested they wrap up the show there and then, as nothing could top that remark, leaving them all in fits of giggles.

And finally …
