As a lifelong Faces enthusiast (those who know me would say fanatic) I have often thought (and wished), that the two Ronnie Wood solo releases while he was still a member of the group, 1974’s I’VE GOT MY OWN ALBUM TO DO and 1975’s NOW LOOK, two very solid efforts, should have been recorded with the rest of the Faces. They would have had a larger impact by of course selling more copies and at the same time extending the Faces cannon. After all, both albums were very similar in style and feel to what the group recorded during that time with Faces singles, “Pool Hall Richard” and “You Can Make Me Dance…”. So, you would also have to wonder, if Rod Stewart was still willing to record more extensively with the rest of the group, would either of Wood’s solo albums have been recorded or released? But in any event, you really can’t blame Wood for wanting to share his stockpile of musical ideas and songs that he had accumulated since the last Faces studio album with no outlet for his creativity. With a new home studio recently installed, Wood gathered some friends including new house guest Keith Richards and a rhythm section that he had always wanted to play with, bassist Willie Weeks, and drummer Andy Newmark. Wood with his new unit would go on to record more than twenty tracks at those loose sessions. But I think that it was not because he had a burning desire to record a solo album, but rather he had endless studio time now to put his ideas to tape.
