AARP Celebrates You Live Review

Live At The Fillmore Miami FL, U.S.A. 17-feb-2022 Review By Cara Marie Anne Trombino

I just watched the AARP live streaming concert that Rod performed at back in February, I am writing the review as it has just finished! It was great! For those of you that didn’t get to see it or were experiencing technical difficulties I will be very happy and honored to share my review !

Just like old times before COVID! First Rod opened with Infatuation wearing a white jacket, black pants leopard print tie, and leopard print shoes. The second Song was Havin’ A Party followed by It Takes Two, that he sang it with Becca Kötte. Next up was Rhythm of My Heart one thing I loved at the end that they added the voice over of Sir Winston Churchill from the end of the song Way Back Home off of Rod’s Another Country album. Next was Forever Young and Rod took a break and had the girls dancing and doing a cool dueling drums and fiddles. Rod didn’t change his outfit here. Then along came Maggie May. The beginning was the version from the Royal Philharmonic album then it switches to the way we know. Rod messed up a little bit of the words but he had a good laugh about it. Then came my favorite song Young Turks! They added a new thing with drums here at the end with the girls banging drums. Then the screen went dark and Rod is now wearing a new jacket with blue flowers and black pants. He then sang Etta James’s song I’d Rather Go Blind (THIS I LUV) Next up The Acoustic set, Rod started off by saying “This is when we have a bit of a rest cause some of us aren’t getting any younger and need a break” Next song was Ooh La La, followed by First Cut is The Deepest. After that Rod made some announcements thanking AARP for putting this together and everything they do. Then Rod sang Your In My Heart. I really miss the Celtic flags and scarves during this. Next is Have I Told You Lately. The FINAL two songs were Da Ya Think I’m Sexy followed by Sweet Little Rock N Roller.

I REALLY loved the concert. I really miss Rod live and it was weird not seeing any audience but I’m not complaining. I am still hoping to see him live this year in person! Miss him so much!!

Hmm. Interesting review. Glad you enjoyed it. I thought it dreadful and sealed my belief that this is Rod ‘s last tour singing these songs. I’d much prefer that he sang his American Songbook takes. At least I’d know, 100%, that he was actually enjoying himself.
