Everyone knows Rod is a fan of Frankie Miller once saying “He is the only white guy that ever brought a tear to my eye,” Rod asked producer David Mackay if he knew of any unreleased Miller gems, So David contacted Frankie’s partner, Annette Miller, and received two bin bags full of demos. “The tracks were simple,” he says of the recordings, “but the vocals were stunning.” David promptly set about “creating proper backing tracks with top musicians from around the world”.
The result is a brand new album ‘Double Take’ due for release on 30th September Alongside Frankie’s original vocal, this album features new recordings from Rod, Elton John, Kid Rock, Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Willie Nelson, Hotei Tomoyasu, Paul Carrack, Francis Rossi, Bonnie Tyler, Huey Lewis,Steve Cropper and many more.
There is also a one hour video documentary included in the Deluxe edition, “Frankie Miller: Sending Me Angels”, which shows the making of the album.

Frankie had a brain haemorrhage in 1994 and since then has been paralysed and unable to speak. It is fitting that some of his peers have got together to record the 19- track album of some of his previously unreleased songs, With input from some amazing artists the demos have been worked up into finished songs that retain the integrity of Miller’s original recordings. “The response was overwhelming,” David Mackay says, noting that “Elton John thought ‘Where Do The Guilty Go’ was a classic”. The album also has the perfect closing track ‘I Do’, a solo Miller track.
