Henry Facey on his career highlight

Rod’s surprise performance at Piccadilly Circus

Rod went back to his roots yesterday when he joined busker Henry Facey during an impromptu performance of Handbags and Gladrags at Piccadilly Circus.

The gathering crowd of lucky onlookers got a rare chance to see Rod busking as he did during the start of his career in the sixties.

Speaking to SMILER after the performance Henry told us how he felt about the visit from his superstar singing partner

‘I was pretty nervous before it happened as I saw him from the corner of my eye and recognised him instantly.

When he came up to the mic he had his usual cheeky charming smile that actually put me slightly more at ease (If it wasn’t already from the bum pinch as he made his way past me to the mic!).

But when he started singing… the power of his voice and that distinctive beauty in his tone were outstanding, a real highlight of my career as a musician and still can’t believe it actually happened. There are honestly no words to express how thankful I am for this experience’.

Henry didn’t tell us if Rod managed to get more coins thrown in the hat than he used to though!!
