Rod Stewart will turn 77 on January 10, 2022. Reason enough for two of the biggest Rod Stewart fans in Germany to come up with an idea of how to make this day a very special one for Rod himself, but also for his fans all over the world.
Marco Woelfer, the man behind “Mr. Rod ”, a very well-known and successful Rod Stewart tribute show in Germany, and Oliver Kreuz, a Stewart fan for several decades, came up with the idea of producing a special birthday video for Rod with the support of millions of Stewart fans.
The planning for this project has been going on for months and is now slowly but surely entering the decisive phase. Woelfer and Kreuz are now calling on fans all over the world to record a video of themselves and sing Stewart’s world hit Sailing in a kind of playback show. Attention: Please sing on the original Sailing version, that was released on Atlantic Crossing, not on any live version!
The best recordings from all submissions will be cut together in a video and processed into the final product with the sailing version of Mr. Rod as the musical background.
This video will then be released to the public on January 10th, the day Rod Stewart celebrates his birthday.
From now on, Rod fans all over the world are called upon to present themselves as playback artists or talented singers and to record their personal version of Sailing. If you like to include a personal birthday message to Rod at the end of the video, you are welcome to incorporate this into your cinematic work.
The makers of the video do not care whether you are relaxing on the sofa at home, whether you are sitting in the football stadium where neigbours are only more or less excited with your singing skills or tourists in New York, London or any other place in the world with your dancing and dancing talents. Present yourself in the midst of your Rod Stewart fan articles that you have collected over the years. Put on your Celtic jersey, put on a Stewart wig, get your dog or cat to sing along …
It doesn’t matter what comes to your mind, the main thing is that you all sing the world hit “Sailing” with enthusiasm and passion. And who knows … Perhaps some more hidden singing talents will be discovered on this occasion …
With everything, however, make sure that you do not sit or stand directly in the sun when shooting the video. The best place is next to a window so that the light falls on the face at an angle from the front.

The two creators, Woelfer and Kreuz, also support the children’s aid organization UNICEF with their project, which has been taking care of the problems, rights and concerns of children on earth for many decades.
