Mercury Records are to re-issue two best of collections on 24 June, to coincide with Rod’s forthcoming appearance at the Glastonbury festival. Originally released in 1976 and 1977, the collections cover the period 1969 to 1974, when Rod was signed to Mercury Records.
‘The Best Of Volume I’ includes ‘Maggie May’, ‘Handbags And Gladrags’, ‘Oh No Not My Baby’, ‘Angel’ and ‘You Wear It Well’.
‘The Best of Volume II’ includes Tim Hardin’s ‘Reason To Believe’, ‘Lost Paraguayos’ and the Sam Cooke medley ‘Bring It On Home To Me/You Send Me’.
‘The Best Of Volume I’ originally climbed to No. 18 on the UK charts in 1977, the second volume failed to chart.
