Rod was recently moaning about the fact that unlike Elton John and Mick Jagger, he hasn’t been honoured by the Queen. UK rock magazine Mojo was once Rod’s natural home, but since his entrance into MOR last year they have given him little coverage and not even reviewed his latest releases.

Andrew Male, Deputy Editor of Mojo magazine, told today’s Independent he would like to see Rod get his knighthood and retire:

“He should get a knighthood on the sole condition that he immediately goes away. If a knighthood is an award for lifetime achievement then he clearly warrants one: some of his early stuff with The Faces was terrific. Latterly, though, he seems happy to coast along, trading on the fact that he is Rod Stewart, and producing some truly terrible albums. This musical (Tonight’s The Night) that he’s collaborated on with Ben Elton is the last straw. Give him his knighthood, his slippers and a glass of port and send him on his way.”
