Rod has contacted the Scottish Daily Record in response to fleetwood manager and Rangers flop Joey Barton’s recent podcast
Barton hit the headlines on Thursday by launching a withering attack on former Rangers boss Mark Warburton and club captain James Tavernier as part of his podcast.
Barton who claimed when he arrived in Glasgow four years ago that he was the best player in Scotland, accused Warburton of ‘shaking like a s****** dog’ moments before sending his team out for a 5-1 defeat at Celtic Park – and claimed Tavernier was more worried about getting a haircut than preparing properly for the derby day massacre.he also had a dig at Celtic skipper Scott Brown during the podcast interview, insisting there’s a reason Brown has never played in England.
Rod decided to take Barton to task his reply was.. ‘To a very delusional Mr Joey ‘one cap’ Barton. I was at the 5-1 drubbing you received at the hands of Celtic and I’ve watched it back a few times, have you? Probably not. You had a mare mate – by far the worst Rangers player on the pitch, Scott Brown won every 50-50 ball. Your contribution was minimal, You are not a great player and you never were and, believe me, there are many poor players in the English Premier League, Don’t take this personally mate but just leave Scottish football alone – we’re fine without you, You are no De Bruyne, no Gascoigne, no Beckham or Best and certainly no Scott Brown. You were just an average player who could take a decent throw in!’
And he signed off with one final dig: ‘Oh and by the way what you doing now? Sir Rod Stewart CBE.’
