Rod on top form

London 02 Arena review by Yve Paige

Hi all,

My Rod night Friday started with getting my 7 years old grand daughter ready to go for her first every concert. This made the day extra special for me too.

We caught the tube in and had dinner before meeting with Maxine and getting a drink at the American Grill. Where we met Sharon Maggie and Jeff and others arrived and it was so nice to see everyone there.

So the concert, Rod was on top form, really amazing, there’s just so much going on, but he still has my full attention on stage, He sounds good, He looks good and he’s still the most attractive man alive. He nailed I’d Rather go blind and I love Brighton beach. The crowd was on their feet from the off and seemed that way most of the night.

The set list was pretty much the same as every other night, but it was the first time for Tallulah and Abbey who sat with us, they stood on their seats and sang out loud, they had such a lovely time and said it was the best night ever! We just had a little sulk when a football didn’t come our way but that soon passed.

One little boy was given a ball by Rod and some Oaf caught it and run of with it, but undeterred his mum managed to get it back and was later invited by Mary’s Son back stage where Rod was so nice to him, talking to him and making up for what had happened. Joe went home very happy the next day clutching his ball.

When we got home Tallulah grabbed the broom and used it as a Mike (as you do after a Rod concert!) Throwing it round the room she dropped it and broke it lol all in the name of Rock and Roll!

Saturday arrived and off I went again this time with Sue and Ken. We had a Burger and chips and met up with Maxine, Neal and Amanda and saw a few faces along the way.

It is a shame we can’t all sit together like we used too, scattered all over the place just isn’t quite the same, once in our seats you can spot little groups of two and three people rocking on their own, keeping the faith no matter what.

Set list change from We’re having a party to Twisting tonight which was fun, Ruby and Alistair came on stage during the night. Ruby duet with her dad, I first saw Ruby in Wembley years ago when she was 18 and have always enjoyed her taking the stage, She is a chip off the dining room table as Rod say’s and sounded amazing. Taking a few tips from dad she dropped to the floor and takes the sage and makes it her own. Alastair came on dancing in a black jacket, dropping his Celtic shirt for a much slicker look bless him, he’s so confident and just loves taking the stage with his dad, Rod must be a Proud man.

Everyone sat for the acoustic session but one couple at the back stood and danced to Have I told you lately all by their selves it was so nice even when security came to break them up they just invited him to join in, needless to say they carried on dancing, bless them .

We got a 2nd encore tonight Rod came back on with a hat on and sang Olde Lang Syne, It’s sounded sooo good and I’m so pleased I heard him sing it live, very touching end to my tour, I’ve a feeling it’s going to be released as The Christmas single which in my opinion will make Rod another number one.

We converted the David Essex Fans in front of us to Rod Stewart fans too,

Well That’s it except I’d like to save a Huge Thank you to my wonderful friends who came along for the ride as it wouldn’t ever be the same without you all and also for the Birthday presents they brought me while we were there, I’m now a proud owner of a Hoody, and new T. Shirt and a key ring to die for.

Also a special Lady who made these concerts and is on the road to recovery said Hello today and made my day complete.
