Rod’s 2006 Hat Trick (updated 8 Feb)

Rod has entered the UK charts with yet another album of old tracks

Rod has entered the UK charts with yet another album of old tracks. The 1996 ballads album ‘If We Fall In Love Tonight’ has been given a new sleeve, a slightly re-jigged track listing and has been subjected to an advertising campaign by Warner Brothers. As a result it has re-entered this weeks official albums charts at No. 16. The album originally stayed on the charts for 19 weeks, peaking at No. 8, in 1996 and sold 412,704 copies prior to its re-vamp. The album sold 14,070 copies last week to secure its No. 16 position

So far this year Rod has enjoyed three Top 75 albums. ‘The Great American Songbook Volume Four’ spent two weeks on this year’s charts after peaking at No. 3 in 2005 and the hits collection ‘The Story So Far’ climbed to an impressive 2006 peak of No. 25 (it originally made No. 5 in 2001)..

‘If We Fall In Love Tonight’ is one of FIVE Rod Stewart albums on this weeks Top 200. The others are ‘The Story So Far’ (#106), ‘As Time Goes By’ (#184), ‘The Very Best Of’ (#186) and ‘Thanks For The Memory’ (#188).

Two weeks ago ‘Rod Stewart & The Faces: A Visual Biography’ climbed to No. 14 in the DVD charts.
