Jools’ Annual Hootenanny

Photo Jools Holland

After years of trying Jools Holland has finally got Rod to guest on his Jools’ Annual Hootenanny TV show that will be broadcast on New years Yve.

Rod and Jools are also planning more TV appearances to promote their collaboration swing album due out in February

Unlike Rod’s Great American Songbook series this album has been recorded with Rod singing with the full Jools band, On the GAS albums Rod recorded his vocals seperate, Rod wanted this up tempo album to have a less polished jazz feel.

ā€˜Had Me A Real Good Time at the BBC’ ā€“ In Session & In Concert 1971 – 1973

We had a mixed reaction to our big Exclusive Faces announcement this week, everyone was very excited about the project but many were confused as to why the UK allocation was only 500, Rob Caiger explaines..

“I wouldn’t disagree at all with those comments. The 500 quantity is based on the response Warner had from UK independent retailers – record labels do research & analysis months up front. If you think about it, while this is a limited edition, a record company wants to sell as many LPs as possible and would have allocated more to the UK if there had been a greater demand from retailers here. As it was, they had excellent responses from the US, Germany and other territories worldwide and have allocated accordingly.

Personally, I feel the numbers are far too low for the UK so let’s prove it so all future releases are well stocked in UK record stores and we see the Faces proudly displayed.

What I would ask the fans to do is let SMILER know which local indie stores they see the LP stocked & if it’s displayed – and also if it sold out.

I’ll then be able to feed this info back to the label.

If UK retail have got it wrong, I want Faces fans here to prove it to them by getting the LP the day it’s released, selling out and very few copies getting into the hands of scalpers and appearing on eBay.

Thank you! Rob”

How good does this sound

It was great to hear many of you were getting your copies at your local indie record stores although bad Black Friday marks go to Heaven and Hell store who are selling the disc for £73.08 plus £10.43 postage on Ebay..Hopefully you will be avoiding them but good Black Friday marks go to our fantastic local indie stores like Beyond Vinyl in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Mixed Up Records in Glasgow, Crash Records in Leeds, Hey Joe Music and Coffee in Essex, Derricks Music in Swansea, ST Records in Dudley, and Chameleon Records in Aberdeen and the rest of the stres that are selling the album for around £30

Sing it Again Rod

The very last of our Tim Jeffs ‘Sing it Again Rod’ Figures were posted out this week, we would like to thank Tim for once again doing a fantastic job and it was great to watch the project come to life step by step.

And thank you to all members who supported the project and everyone who let us see where the statues ended up.

And Finally..

Ronnie Wood appeared on Talksport this week where he was asked about Rod’s love for Celtic and Ronnie couldn’t help but poke fun at his mate.

He said: “I like Celtic too but I don’t ram it down people’s throats. He just goes on about it all the time.”

For the record Ronnie’s English team is West Bromwich Albion – he adopted them in the 1950s despite being a Londoner and having the pick of the capital’s big teams like Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea.

Oh and don’t forget free shipping on your favourite whisky this weekend
