Up Your Hoops
Rod attended Celtic’s match against Motherwell on Saturday but was booed on the way in by banned ultras group The Green Brigade who were assemble on the Celtic Way to welcome Brendan Rodgers and his team as they stepped off the team bus and walked into the stadium. Their gathering formed part of their promised ‘day of action’ after they were banned from attending all home and away Celtic games for the foreseeable future due to ‘unacceptable behaviour’ that had gone too far.
The group are unhappy with Rod after he spoke about his ‘disgust’ towards some Celtic fans who booed the minute’s silence for Remembrance Day a couple of weeks ago before the Hoops’ clash with Aberdeen.

A smiling Rod respond to the heckling and fired back by brandishing the middle finger towards the Green Brigade.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Happy 18th Birthday Alastair
Rod’s son Alastair celebrated his 18th Birthday on Tuesday and went for a celebratory meal and a tipple in London’s The MAINE Mayfair, with Rod, Penny and his girlfriend Eloise Darlington.

Rod posted on his social media captioning the photo of the pair “Celtic brothers, @Alastairstewart,” alongside a sticker on the snap saying ‘Happy birthday 18’
And Penny posted a string of photos she captioned “My beautiful first born son that I had dreamt of for 34 years of my life, came to me as a gift that I have always treasured happy 18th birthday. So proud of the wonderful man you have become xxxx @alastairwstewart.”

The following day Rod and Alastair jetted off to Rome and the Stadio Olimpico to watch their beloved Celtics take on Lazio in a Champions League match. The Hoops lost 2-0 and crashed out of all European contests but that didn’t stop the pair from enjoying a night out later at 50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo pizzeria, where they enjoyed classic Italian food and red wine and had a photo taken with the staff

.Rod stayed at the Hassler Hotel and Nelson Widell bumped into him at the bar and got this weeks main photo, Nelson also got a signed bottle of Wolfie’s Whisky from Rod ..and this weeks Wolfie’s photo!

Sworders director John Black, who has managed the three sales for his famous client, said: “We all feel the need for a declutter once in a while, and that sentiment is no different for Sir Rod.
“He has accumulated many things over his lifetime and has decided it is again the time to have a bit of a clear-out.
“He lives locally to us and it is a pleasure to be selling these items, with pieces that range from the glitzy and glamorous to the more restrained.”

This weeks Rod Art
This week we feature the art work of Austin, Texas artist William K. Stidham who painted this amazing picture of Rod

William told SMILER this week ” There are many reasons why I painted Rod… First off, the obvious… He is a singular, iconic voice in Rock. He represents decades of British Rock and Soul. I remember my youth, and immediately being hit over the head with Maggie May… I was a part of his disco era… In retrospect, he did it his own way and quite well. Then you had the MTV salad days… He always pushed himself as an artist… even the standards he’s singing now. Love the man and what he represents”.
