Penny.. You are The Weekest Link, Goodbye.
On Saturday Penny was one of the guests on the BBC show The Weekest Link

She got off to a flying start by correctly answering that gardeners have Green fingers but then she was asked what H in education is the usual term for studies or assignments that pupils are required outside of regular school time Penny incorrectly answered History and not Homework

To the next question In TV, the sitcom first broadcast in 1990 staring Patricia Routledge as Hyacinth Bucket is called Keeping Up what?..Penny thought hard and instead of saying Appearances said With The Joneses

That was enough to get her voted as The Weekest Link with 6 votes

As she left Penny saw the funny side saying “I’m history now”..

On Tuesday Rod and Jools Holland treated London commuters at a train station to a surprise performance of tracks from their newly announced swing album, Julie Smith and Paul Hayward witnessed the event and took some great shots

St. Pancras International was a fitting place to launch their new project as Rod and Jools are both well known for being model railway enthusiasts,. Had Me A Real Good Time at the BBC

So far the reviews of the new official Faces release has been very good, The SMILER team is honoured to be involved in this and future official Faces projects.

And here is another short review by justspinningsomevinyl
“Had Me A Real Good Time at the BBC – In Session & In Concert 1971-1973” from Faces. Thought I’d add a bonus post today. Something different for this page. I’ve always had a vague appreciation for Faces, (Stay With Me might be the greatest R&R song ever recorded & Rod Stewart has one of the all-time excellent Rock voices. But I’ve never owned anything from them, I didn’t go looking for this album on Record Store Day/ Black Friday 2023. I was there for the Jazz releases. Impulsively, I added this LP to my stack, and I’m so glad I did. Presented by John Peel & culled from several live shows in 1971, ’72 & ’73, this record is nothing less than a bunch of good time, kick-ass Rock & Roll. Just check out the song selection! Faces were pique 70′ Rock… Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones & Ian McLagan…Faces were an underappreciated band. Unfortunately, this album is not available to stream a sample, so I’m filling in with the original version.

ICAP Charity Day
On Thursday Rod and Penny joined a host of stars including Simon Cowell, Joan Collins, Alex Scott and Billie Piper to celebrate ICAP Charity day that uses the core skills of financial professionals, and ICAP’s position at the heart of global markets, to help people and causes in need.

Born in 1993, ICAP Charity Day is a pioneering fundraising initiative where everyone contributes. ICAP as a company, together with their brokers, give 100% of one day’s revenue. The charity partners’ celebrity ambassadors generate the interest, and their clients respond.
The result is significant and lasting positive impact. Over the past 30 years, ICAP Charity Day has raised more than £160 million, donated to more than 2,900 charitable causes around the world, directly supporting more than 7.7 million people.
Rod and Penny posed with the team of brokers who had dressed up as enthusiastic cheerleaders for the event as they gave Penny a pom pom to hold.

And later joined Mark Aldridge for an evening supporting The King’s Foundation.

And Finally..
Rod appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday and put the NHS and its strikes at centre stage in a bid to pay for patients’ MRI scans.
He addressed the Prime Minister personally saying: “Rishi, Rod Stewart and Jools Holland here, I personally would like to reach out and help people with scans that can’t afford it, any city in the world I’ll rent the scan van and I’ll pay for it.”
He then highlighted the current cost of living crisis.saying: “I can’t ever remember it being this bad, mothers can’t afford to feed their children, it’s just unbelievable.”
Rod’s comments come after the government unveiled a deal with the body representing Britain’s pharmaceutical industry stating it would give patients better access to medicine and treatments.

See you next week..
