August 13, 2024. Rod was back in top form. Amazingly beautiful intimate venue, Mountain Winery in Saratoga CA. Rod called it “bloody unique”. Open air venue with a capacity of 2500. Every seat was filled! Rod booed the facility for not being able to have his video screen as a backdrop a few times, said he felt they were playing a wedding. He would fill in the audience about what would be on the screen if it was there, such as Ukraine and Christine McVie tribute. Rod was very welcoming to the crowd, called up many fans to give them a hug and kiss and take selfies.

At the end several fans joined him on stage, much to the concern of venue security, who tried to stop it, but Rod overruled them. A group of Celtic fans in the second level were invited by him down to the front row where the seats hadn’t been taken yet by the purchaser about 30 minutes into the show. Once the ticket purchaser arrived the Celtic fans were sent back to their seats by security, although one lucky girl, Donna, was brought up to the stage by Rod where she sat next to the keyboards for the rest of the show. WOW what a night Donna must have had.

Surprise guest Richard Marx sang along with Rod to Some Guys Have All the Luck, he had performed at the venue the night before. Rod’s voice was amazing, you would never know he had been sick the previous week. This night made up for having gone to Las Vegas for the concert last week that was cancelled due to his illness. As always Rod appears to be Forever Young!

Yungblud grew up believing Rod was his grandad

Global sensation Yungblud has revealed that he grew up believing that he was the grandson of Rod , until he discovered one of his albums in Asda.

The story came out as the Doncaster singer made an appearance on Lorraine to promote his upcoming festival Bludfest, During the interview, host Christine Lampard touched upon the subject by jokingly asking what Rod Stewart thought of his upcoming plans, particularly as the singer – real name Dominic Harrison – “grew up thinking he was a close relative for a very long time”.

“I did, people wonder why I look like this and why I’m crazy… I was told by my nan my whole life, up to the age of 10, that Rod Stewart was my grandad,”

“There was a photograph of him on the mantelpiece and my mum never had a dad, so she always used to tell me ‘Oh, that’s your grandad’! I used to love it, I used to love the leopard print.”

He continued: “Then we were in Asda one day with my nan, next to the till, and there was a Rod Stewart CD. I picked it up and looked at my nan with my eyes full of water like ‘When’s grandad coming home?’

“Everyone laughed and she was completely mortified. That’s when I found out that Rod Stewart is, in fact, not my grandad. He taught me about leopard print though, and I’ll wear it until I’m not here any more.”

This Week’s Rod Art..

This week we feature a brilliant acrylic and enamel on canvas by Jon Christopher

Jon says of the painting “The symbolism should be obvious here. It’s sexual, of course. Lover Boy is also a naughty boy who likes to have good fun. I chose Rod Stewart for the statement I needed to make for this piece because he’s a legendary romantic among Rock stars. 8 children, 3 wives, 5 significant others, and God knows how many on the road. So who else should I paint to represent my recent fling with being flung? In both his music and his personal life he’s the very portrait of the Rock romantic. And he’s been knighted for his deeds, so the banner across the bottom reads correctly. But I’ve made a switch on his alcoholic product. He in truth has recently launched a blended Scotch whisky, called Wolfie’s, not a champagne as the label in this painting suggests. But Scotch doesn’t blow a cork like a lusty man, so I switched beverages. I’ve taken artistic license, as they say”.
