Perfect start..but not for long

Alastair posted a football post on Tuesday as Celtic went 0-1 up in the league match against Dundee, The Stewart household also seemed to be supporting Nottingham Forrest or they didn’t want Liverpool to win?

The perfect start didn’t last too long Celtic drew 3-3 after scoring an injury time penalty and Forrest ended up drawing 1-1 with Liverpool

Rod and Penny joined King Charles as he celebrated the 35th anniversary of The King’s Foundation charity during a special event at Dumfries House in Ayrshire on Wednesday

Rod was seen causing the King to crack up at the event just hours after he and Penny were named the newest celebrity ambassadors of The King’s Foundation.

They were joined by TV host Alan Titchmarsh as they placed items in a special time capsule. And Rod couldn’t help but crack a joke by pretending he was preparing to throw his watch into the empty box.

He then pretended to cower as Charles picked up his secateurs to place them in the capsule, to the King’s amusement. Charles then put in a personal letter, saying “I’ll bury this at the bottom.”

The capsule design has been left intentionally plain to both celebrate the British timber used and to give space for other students and alumni to add decorative elements throughout the year.

“I don’t think people expect Bruce Springsteen to come out in a pink satin jacket, but Rod Stewart, they do. And I like doing it; I don’t wear it just because I think I have to. I’m a very flamboyant person.” – ROD STEWART.

“I shot this in 1977 at Madison Square Garden when I was still sneaking in my camera, selling my photos in front of the concerts and selling them out of my high school locker.” –MARK WEISS

talkSPORT 25th Anniversary

Rod phoned into the breakfast show on talkSPORT this morning to congratulate them on their 25th anniversary

Talking to hosts Alan Brazil and Ray ‘Party’ Parlour Rod spoke about the first time he met Alan while he was playing for Scotland in the 1982 World Cup and said he can’t make the Celtic v Aston Villa match due to the L.A fires support event that makes it 79 concerts he will play this year!

Kean-No

It seems Manchester United legend Roy Kean has not got over Rod having a go at him three years ago

Talking to Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Jill Scott on the Stick To Football podcast, Keane took a swipe at ‘rubbish’ singer, Rod- saying he ‘slags everyone off’.

When reminded about the Rod’s 2021 critique of him by Neville, Keane hit back and said: ‘He has a go at everybody. Who does he think he is?’

Former England star Scott then questioned what Keane had done to enrage Stewart.

‘I did nothing, why do you think I did something? Rod Stewart slags everybody off, who does he think he is?’ he replied.

‘He has a go at everybody, he has a go at everybody! Rod Stewart. Who does he think he is?

‘He’s not great. Great at what? Singing? I saw him a few years ago, he was rubbish.

Rubbish, I swear. He was rubbish that night. It’s like we have bad games. I didn’t say he’s not a good singer, he was just rubbish that night I saw him.

‘(What made him bad?) His voice! He had a bad night.

‘He’s pushing on a bit now, there must come a point like a boxer where for a singer you go, ‘You’ve had a good run, enough’s enough’.

‘We’ve had it as players. When do people say to a singer, “Come on, you’ve had a good innings, enough’s enough, get off the stage”.

Neville got the last line in ‘Get off the stage Roy. Yeah that’s right. Get him on here.’

Rod’s comments came after he watched the live clash between Roy and fellow pundit Carragher over Cristiano Ronaldo’s form at Man United on TV and hit out at Keane for being ‘far too aggressive’ in making his point. Speaking to talkSPORT three years ago, Rod said: ‘I think Roy can be a bit of a bully sometimes.

I admired him as a player but he’s a bit of a bully. I think there’s a way of speaking your mind and I think he’s far too aggressive.

‘He was an elite player but do you think he could be a good manager with that approach?’

FireAid

Sir Rod and Sting are set to perform at the charity concert for the wildfire relief efforts in California, alongside American stars Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Pink and Katy Perry. The one-off event, named FireAid, is scheduled for January 30 at the Intuit Dome and the neighbouring Kia Forum in Los Angeles, with live broadcasts and streaming.

The star-studded line-up also includes Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Grammy winner Joni Mitchell, as well as Gwen Stefani, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lil Baby, Stephen Stills and Tate McRae. Double Oscar-winning musician Eilish will share the stage with her brother Finneas O’Connell, while the gig will mark the first live performance of Dave Matthews and John Mayer together.

More artists are to be announced

One reply on “This week’s news and gossip”

Great update Mike. Sad to see the late great Jeff Beck having his guitars auctioned off. Killer shot of Rod from ‘77, hard to believe it was almost 50 years ago. Bottoms up on the Guinness, JD
