Minds Behind the Music told SMILER this week ‘Kenney was one of my interviewees for a book with loads of music stars, then with Mungo Jerry and a few others we decided to do an album as well’.

What does Francis Rossi of Status Quo think about global warming? Does Ian Gillan of Deep Purple think we’re doing a good job of caring for the planet?
These questions and more are tackled by going to the source and asking them. Suzi Quatro, Don McLean, Kenney Jones, Marcella Detroit, Ian Anderson, Simon Kirke and many more.
Over eighty music stars, past and present, are quizzed on their opinions about religion, aliens, politics and of course, the issues of climate change.
Why? To raise awareness about the plight the planet is in.
Nothing speaks to humans more than music and the influence these legends of rock and pop have is immense.
Funny, thought provoking and eye opening, Minds Behind the Music is a book unlike any other. So settle down with a nice environmentally friendly cup of tea and enjoy whilst listening to the fundraising album of the same name featuring indies and stars like Mungo Jerry and Simon Kirke of Bad Company. An album of unique and special songs recorded especially for Minds Behind the Music.

Faces Logo

This stunning Faces logo was made by Mark Hutchins in Seattle, Washington.

Mark told SMILER “I made this for myself a while back ’cause I just, ya know, had to have it. Lotta work, it’s hand carved and lacquered and measures about 11′ X 18″. If any members want one making they are on sale at $200 a piece.”

Recording with Rod
Latest from the project with Jools Holland..Amanda Carvill from Rod’s band posted a photo captioned ‘Introducing Miller On Tap this Thursday Such a fun and talented group of people to spend a day with! Fun day of recording with @sirrodstewart‘ On Friday evening’

And Saxophone player and arranger Derek Nash said that at the recording sessions held in February with the Jools Holland rhythm and blues orchestra He did 4 of the arrangements that were used, and also did a cheeky solo and said he is looking forward to more sessions soon .

It’s A Hard Road that I Travel
Meanwhile Rod posted a clip of him fixing roads and went viral!!
Here is the clip Rod posted https://www.instagram.com/sirrodstewart/
In the clip Rod says “This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow. It’s been like this for ages.
“The other day there was an ambulance for the first time. My Ferrari can’t go through here at all.

“So me and the boys thought we’d come here and do it ourselves. So this is what we’re doing. Filling in the holes while millions and millions of pounds have been spent on the M11 [referring to nearby works on a new junction 7a at Harlow].”
Rod’s clip went viral with over 84,000 likes in just one day and he even made the main news TV bulletins.. but a spokesperson for Essex Highways said: “Whilst we appreciate Sir Rod’s commitment to improving his community, we would discourage anyone from doing work on the roads themselves because without proper traffic management and other specific safety measures, residents are putting themselves at risk.”

This weeks Rod Art

This weeks very eye catching Rod art was created by Joanne Montagano Lenhoff from Venice, CA. who explained to SMILER this week how her works of art were created ” It’s all photo apps. I use several for each piece. None of the raw images belong to me. I have been doing this off and on for about 20 years. I was inspired to take it up again in December when I developed an interest in the Bee Gees, particularly Robin Gibb. I have an account with those here called @sirbodding . Just recently, I thought I’d branch out with other artists that I like”.
