Rod’s week ended in Milwaukee at the Summerfest’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Thursday, July 7 with band member Adrianna Thurber missing from the line up with the flu.

Before performing Maggie May, Rod suggested this would be the last time the fans at Summerfest would hear the song.

It’s Friday Night…

Well that’s last week caught up…your news editor finally got knocked out for three days by the dreaded covid [You should have heard ME try to sing Sweet Caroline!] but we are back on track now…

8th July saw the tour arrive at The Excel Energy Center. Saint Paul, MN

It’ll be the last time you hear this in Minnesota announced Rod as went into Maggie May again implying this will be his last greatest Hits Tour, Rod also spoke of meeting up with Van Morrison at the recent Raise The Roof concert and said the singer has reputation for being standoffish but Rod said Van knocked on his door and would not stop talking as he thanked him for being able to buy a swimming pool with the royalties from Rod’s recording of ‘Have I Told You Lately’.

Some of the local reviewers were commenting on Rod’s poor vocals but Clancy McGee who was in attendance told SMILER “TOTAL RUBBISH! He was in excellent voice, and as you know, Rod will be the first to admit when the vocals are not up to par. He carried each tune like we all expect from his live shows, I have read some of the sub par reviews and then follow that up with seeing who is the reviewer…..in each instance my immediate comment was “figures!” it seems as though reviewers think they need to be sharp, critical, and cutting edge in order to write a good review. As you would say on your side of the pond, ‘BOLLOCKS!‘ “

Do We Mind The Bollocks ?

To anyone who is thinking of checking out the new Danny Boyle ‘Pistols’ series on Disney + I would highly recommend it, how true it all is I am not sure, but Rod get shown in a clip only a few seconds in to episode one and as you would expect gets quite a few digs throughout the series, Rod is portrayed quite rightly as THE rock star and the music clips throughout are actually very well done, it does sum up the era very well, my only gripe is according to this script God Save The Queen gets to number one ..and they still wont play the song!, no mention of Rod keeping it off the top spot!

Back to the Tour
