Alone Again Naturally

14th February, 1973. Actress Hilary Pritchard presents the Disc Awards to Rod Stewart, Maggie Bell (Top UK singers) and Gilbert O’Sullivan

70’s singer songwriter Gilbert O’Sullivan has announced a series of small venue tour dates for 2022 but it seems he is a bit jealous of Rod’s success commenting

What I can’t understand is why people still won’t give me the credibility that I look for. If Mojo or any other of those magazines would give me the credit for only ever performing my own songs rather than someone like Rod Stewart singing other people’s songs looking for success.

Meanwhile back in Vegas…

Rod played his last few dates of the current residency in Vegas and was visited by fellow Celtic fans actors Gianni Capaldi and Martin Compston on Saturday night [See main picture]

Gianni said Rod is an absolute class act. What a nite in Vegas. Creating memories with Martin Compston. Living life, hanging with a legend and best nite ever. One of the best shows ever seen. Bonded over @celticfc and love for football. Come together.

He later told SMILER ‘Hail hail, He’s an absolute class act of a gentleman’.

And Finally…

This great oil painting of Rod was done by Johanna Cotter who told SMILER this week “I’ve been a big fan of Rod’s since the 90s and during the current lockdown decided to paint those who have touched my heart in some way through the medium of paint. In lockdown I was still working as a Learning Support Assistant at a Primary School so found that painting helped keep me grounded. I’d participated in Portrait Artist of the Week (online) so gained confidence to paint one of my idol’s Rod Stewart”.

We think Johanna did a fantastic job, to see more of her work go to
