Edinburgh Castle Second Night

The week ended with a second night at Edinburgh Castle, Stage Truck driver Mr Wim Kerkof took this photo and said ‘What a backdrop for the last Rod Stewart UK gigs on this year’s tour’

Rod set off on a ‘specially made’ tour of the city. Along with his sister, Mary, Rod took part in a tour that was made just for them by Invisible Cities. Rod and Mary checked out the Leith Links, went along to the Shore and finished up at the Docks as they explored the streets their father once walked. In the photo Rod is seen resting on a wall outside the Tesco and soft play centre, near to the Spey Lounge pub.

During a trip to the Gleneagles Townhouse Penny took a photo when she visited the bathroom in the beautiful property.

The support for tonight was once again winner of Best Vocalist at The Scottish Jazz Awards 2020 and 2022 and winner for Best Female Breakthrough Artist at The Scottish Music Awards 2020 Kitti [Katie Doyle] who told SMILER after the second show
“Supporting Rod Stewart was an unbelievable opportunity for an up and coming artist like myself and i’m so grateful that I was given this platform to share my music with his fans“
SMILER photographer Marc Baulisch – Steines was again on hand to bring you some fantastic shots including our main photo and Roland Macher came over for the Edinburgh shows and also got more great shots

Special guests again tonight were Stuart ‘Woody ‘ Wood and Johnny Mac from The Bay City Rollers

And Rod brought another very special guest up on stage ..His youthful 94 year old sister Mary

After the show Johnny Mac said
“An amazing couple of nights with Rod Stewart and his incredible band at Edinburgh Castle! 🏰😁 You guys sang your hearts out to ‘Sunshine on Leith’. A huge thank you to Rod for having us perform!” 🙏
Rod later told The Daily Record “My dad and Woody’s dad were both from Leith. We have a big Edinburgh connection. I love the Proclaimers’ Sunshine on Leith. It’s very poignant to me. I wanted to sing it but I didn’t think I’d be able to sing all the way through”.

A birthday never to forget
Ivy~Rose Ireland one of Rod’s youngest fans celebrated her 7th birthday by going to see him live in Edinburgh.

Ivy~Rose took with her a fantastic sign she had made with a message for Rod on it

Rod soon spotted it and made sure He threw the first ball out to her dad Martin to hand to her and then later he told the girls to throw one to her 8 year brother Jack who was also on the front row

Sing It Again Rod update
Thanks for the fantastic response to our new Tim Jeffs project to celebrate Rod’s first compilation album ‘Sing It Again Rod’ that was released in 1973 and celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year.
Tim has agreed to do another sculpture, The album is notable for its Peter Corriston-designed die-cut album sleeve shaped like an old fashioned drinking glass [Very apt at the moment!] and this will be aknowledged in the figure of Rod in all his Faces splendour including his White Dress Royal Stewart Tartan scarf from 1973
Here is Tim’s first sketch and like last time he will photograph each stage of the project to keep everyone involved in the process

Tim can only do batches of 25, The first batch have now all been ordered after our announcement last week and I have contacted everyone who is on it and a second list for a second batch has been started and is also very nearly full I have also contacted everyone who is on this list, so if I have not contacted you, you are not on it and I have not received your request, The cost of the figures will be £95 plus postage, startng with £20 deposit, I will contact everyone by next week regarding this and balance paid before delivery, to regester your pledge for batch two or if you have any questions please contact me, each figure is hand painted to a very high standards by Tim.
This project will not be started for four weeks as Tim has other commitments and when he does start, as each one is hand painted the most that can be done is five per week after they come out of the mould..But it will be worth the wait…And before anyone asks, No he doesn’t have any Taran paint!
