Rod makes a dream come true

On Saturday The Daily Record reported the story of Rod helping to make a little girl’s dream come true after learning that she watches her mum go without food to feed her family.
Rod told the Daily Record his ‘heart broke’ after reading the plight of schoolgirl Sophia McKenzie in the scottish newspaper. He has now offered to donate £2500 to help Sophia’s mum Heather Griffiths with her financial struggles.
The newspaper previously told how Sophia, 10, had been asked to write about her hopes for the future as part of a task at school.
The Motherwell youngster penned a note on the how the cost of living crisis is affecting her family, who have had to rely on food banks.
Sophia wrote: “I have a dream that one day we will live in a world where the cost of living crisis stops and everything is free and nobody struggles with not being able to eat.” It came after she noticed that her mum often skips meals to ensure her four children have enough food.

Rod said: “When I read this story in the Record and saw the letter Heather’s daughter wrote, it broke my heart.
“I simply had to find a way to help.”
Single-mum Heather has been left overwhelmed by Sir Rod’s kind gesture.
She said: “This is pretty much Sophia’s dream coming true because she worries about us struggling every single day.
“I told her what Mr Stewart did and it has completely thrown her. We obviously never expected anything like this to happen.
“Sophia never asks for anything that she needs or wants because she doesn’t want me to be stressed out. So it is going to be amazing to see her not have to worry anymore.
“I’m on my own with four kids and this is going to help us in so many ways. We are on a list to get a bigger house because we’re so cramped so it will really help with that too.
“This is a life changing amount of money and it means so much to all of us.
“Mr Stewart is just an incredible person. I cannot thank him enough. I am so grateful from the bottom of my heart.”
Heather told how she had no idea that Sophia was worrying about her going without food until she read her school note.

Hot legs Rob
Rob Brydon called in to Virgin Radio on Tuesday to chat to host Chris Evans about his popular podcast, and as the interview drew to a close, Rob asked: “Are we not going to briefly talk about that incredible day at your house with Rod Stewart?”

Rob said: “I sat next to Rod Stewart after the show, on the sofa. [I was] lucky enough to sit and chat to him. I was saying to him, ‘How the heck do you do what you do at your age?’ And he was telling me that thing about swimming underwater, pushing the brick along the pool; ‘Frank Sinatra told me,’ I said, ‘Oh right’. He said, ‘But you’re stronger. Those legs’. He said, ‘Great legs, very strong!’”
The comedy star added: “I may put that on my next tour poster!”
