Rod’s Songbook flop…

Rod’s latest edition of The Great American Songbook has nosedived more than 45 places down the UK charts! This unprecedented fall, from last weeks position of No. 30, pushes the album outside of the Top 75 and marks the end of an 8 week run on the UK chart. Its short chart life makes ‘The Great American Songbook Volume 4’ the least successful Rod Stewart studio album in terms of weeks on charts since 1988’s ‘Out Of Order’. Rod has said that he will put the Songbook series on hold whilst he concentrates on other projects.

Meanwhile it’s not all bad news for Rod. Following the pre-Christmas tour, the 2001 compilation ‘The Story So Far’ has re-entered the UK charts at No. 33 bringing its total number of weeks on the charts to 44.
