North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands catches up with Rod Stewart as he returns to rock with Time , a great new album of original songs that brings his solo career full circle. For over four decades Rod Stewart has been an international rock/pop superstar, his music transcending generations while entertaining the masses with his trademark voice and charm. Time, Rod’s first album of new original material in nearly ten years, at times echoes back to the earliest days of his solo career, but with current lyrical reflection. Rod tells InTheStudio host Redbeard the story behind one of the new tracks, “Brighton Beach”, which sparked the entire project.
“Brighton Beach is about what I would consider my first love affair. When I was about 16 or 17 maybe I used to go down to Brighton on the south coast of England, and I was a Beatnik, and (the song) is sort of a reflection of my first love affair. My first child was conceived there, and (there are) also reflections of the ‘60s, which was a wonderful time. As I say in the song, it was a wonderful time to be alive.”
